Tesco Eat Happy Project attends Farm Wise event
Hundreds more schoolchildren will next week be given the opportunity to learn about where their food comes from by visiting The Tesco Eat Happy Project stand, adding to the 6,400 Devon-based children who have already enjoyed a Farm to Fork Trail in a local Tesco store.
The Tesco Eat Happy Project is delighted to be attending Farm Wise in Devon, an event being organised by Devon County Council to educate schoolchildren about the journey their food goes on and its nutritional content. The event takes place at the Westpoint Arena, Exeter on Tuesday 14 October 2014.
Children will be given the opportunity to meet local farmers and food producers in the county including local Tesco suppliers such as Tarka Springs.
Early this year, Tesco launched The Tesco Eat Happy Project to help children understand where their food comes from. The first initiative, Farm to Fork, enables primary school children to get involved in Trails at Tesco stores and local suppliers.
With 14 regional stores offering the free, fun curriculum linked trails, over 6,400 primary school children from Devon have already taken part in one of our trails. The Farm Wise event will provide another opportunity to support learning about where food comes from.
Commenting on Tesco’s presence at the Farm Wise event, and wider Farm to Fork programme, Tesco’s Farm to Fork Trail Guide from the Tesco Bideford store, Sallie Mckay Roper, said: “We’re delighted to be attending the Farm Wise Devon event in Exeter next week. For us, it is another important part in the way in which we can help children understand where their food comes from, in their own county.
“As well as providing free tasters of Stapleton Yoghurt and Tarka Spring Water, delicious seasonal fruit will also be available and supported with some fun facts. There will be goody bags for the children to take away, including activity booklets, to encourage them to continue learning about food and where it comes from”.
