Summer provides the perfect opportunity for people to take a break out of their normal busy lives, and yet many people still find it difficult to sit back and unwind. There are a number of reasons for this, whether it be residual stress at work, having to look after children full time now that they are off school, or simply that you are the type of person who struggles to let go. Whatever the case may be, it is important for your physical and mental health to find time to relax; in order to help you do just that, here are a few ideas of relaxing things you can do this summer to help you unwind.

Take a break from technology

Everyone utilises technology in daily life, and sometimes it is a necessity. However, the summertime is the perfect opportunity to give yourself a break from stressful situations and triggers, and technology is considered to be a big contributor to stress. Therefore, during the summer months, try to set some limits to how long you are going to spend on technological gadgets, such as phones and laptops. You should also look at how you are using the internet, and whether there could be a more relaxing way in which you could use your time. For example, instead of browsing through social media for hours, why not put on some music and relax in the sun with some friends?

Make time for your friends and family

Spending time with people that you care about is one of the best ways to relax, and summer provides the perfect opportunity to do so. The days are longer, and the weather is better, so it is the best time of year to get out there and do something with your friends and family. And a rainy day shouldn't stop you from doing something fun and relaxing - even something as simple as getting some Doughp Cookie Dough and baking a batch of delicious chocolate chip cookies can be a really lovely activity (not to mention you get a tasty reward at the end of it!).

Treat yourself

Think about what you enjoy doing in your free time, and make sure to fit in time for something special during the summer. For example, if you enjoy being pampered, then why not treat yourself to a massage or a pedicure?  If you are worried about your budget, then you don’t even need to treat yourself to an activity, but rather just something small which will bring you joy. For instance, if you enjoy music, then you could download a new album, or if you like vaping, then you could get yourself a new flavour of juice from www.ultimatejuice.co.uk. It’s not important what you do, so long as you are treating yourself to something which will put you at ease and allow you to enjoy yourself.

Spend some time outdoors

Being outside is known to be beneficial for your physical and mental health, especially during the summer when the sun is out. The sun is the body’s best source of Vitamins D and B12, which is why during the winter many people experience mood swings or seasonal depression. Getting out of the house on a regular basis is also crucial for your mood, plus doing some light exercise will increase the release of dopamine in the brain, which leads to a happy, euphoric feeling.
