The Exeter Daily under BBC spotlight
The Exeter Daily has featured on a BBC Spotlight report about the future of news.
The regional programme highlighted the plight of several local newspapers that had seen sales tumble in the past 12 months.
Among them are Exeter's Express & Echo which has seen declines of almost 20 per cent. The Western Morning News fell by 7.6 per cent and the Plymouth Herald by 8.9 per cent.
The BBC interviewed Marc Astley, a former editor of the E&E and founder of The Exeter Daily.
He told the programme how site traffic had rocketed in recent weeks and that further local news websites were planned across the UK, including Plymouth, later this year.
