First birthday celebrations for city hotel

Staff and guests at The Magdalen Chapter have joined together to celebrate the hotel's first birthday. It was 12 months ago that the hotel first opened its doors to the public.

It has been a busy year for staff at the Magdalen Street property yet incredibly satisfying, said General Manager Fiona Moores.

"Celebrating our first birthday at the hotel is a real milestone. It has been a truly wonderful 12 months and we look forward to building on this success in the future. We would like to thank all our guests and friends of the hotel for all their continued support and we look forward to welcoming them into the hotel again soon."

Over the past 12 months:

  • 3938 bottles of champagne have been consumed at the hotel
  • Over 250,000 plates of food have been served to hungry diners
  • 19,236 people have stayed at the hotel
  • 4,446 people have been pampered in the spa
  • 11,492 cocktails have been served in the bar
  • Celebrities including Jeremy Paxman, Newton Faulkner, Al Murray, Jenny Eclair and footballer David James have all stayed at the hotel.
  • The hotel has been named by The Independent as one of the top 50 British Hotels in the UK and The Times listed the hotel in its Cool Hotel Guide
  • Last week, the hotel was nominated by Food and Travel Magazine for its City Hotel of the Year award - up against the likes of The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, The Savoy, The Zetter Townhouse and Blyswood Square in Glasgow
