Pupils studying AS Art and Design are currently preparing for an exhibition of their work, based on the theme of ‘Decay’, in the Brook Gallery in Exeter, from 25 to 29 January.

Exeter School will be the first school to display pupils’ work in ‘The White Room’ in the Gallery as part of their new educational programme.

Gallery Manager, Angela Yarwood, met with the pupils at the start of term to talk to them about all the aspects which are involved in putting on an exhibition, including selecting and presenting the work, promoting the exhibition and writing artist statements.

On Thursday 21 January, some of the pupils visited the gallery space to help determine the layout of the work and the curation of the show.

Head of Art, Alison Dyer, said: ‘We are very grateful to the Brook Gallery for this superb opportunity for our Sixth Form artists. I am sure they have learnt a huge amount about working in a professional Art context and I hope visitors will enjoy seeing their interdisciplinary work.”
