Back in Exeter Cathedral for their much anticipated annual concert, the Amadeus Orchestra and Raphael Wallfisch bring one of England’s finest cello concertos to Exeter; Finzi’s masterpiece from his final years. Wallfisch has long been a major proponent of his work and has made several recordings of it. Malcolm Forbes- Peckham last played a piano concerto with Amadeus back in 2014 when they performed Mozart’s double and this year he performs Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue as well as the quasi- solo piano part of Stravinksy’s ballet Petrouchka. Exeter Cathedral is celebrating today after reaching another major milestone in the Big LEGO Build.
The 5,000th brick in the project, which aims to build a scale-model of the Cathedral out of 300,000 pieces of LEGO, has now been laid – just in time for its first outing away from the city centre.
Later this week sections of the model will be on display at the Devon County Show which runs from 19th-21st May 2016.

Exeter Cathedral’s Big LEGO® Build has got off to a fantastic start, thanks to a donation from the Worshipful Company of Masons.
Cathedral stonemasons (and “Yeoman Masons” of the Worshipful Company) Anna Steinmetzer, Matthew Hoskins and Owen Whitfield have each placed 100 LEGO bricks to begin building the Chapel of St Edmund on the scale model. Their work on the real-life chapel earned them commendations from the Duke of Gloucester’s Awards (administered by the Worshipful Company of Masons) at the end of last year.

Three of Exeter Cathedral’s stonemasons have been singled out for praise, with special commendations from the Worshipful Company of Masons as part of the Duke of Gloucester’s Award scheme.
