Easter Fayre aims for record fundraiser

Bishopsteignton Pre-School, an entirely self-funding playgroup, is hoping for a record-breaking Easter Fayre on Saturday 22 April, when children and families from across Teignbridge converge on Bishopsteignton Community Centre to celebrate a tradition that stretches back over 25 years. Louisa Johnson, the youngest ever winner of the X Factor, has been named as special guest at pop superstar Olly Murs’ outdoor concert at historic Powderham Castle, near Exeter on Saturday, July 29.

The 19-year-old starlet won the 2015 series of the TV talent show at the age of 17 with Simon Cowell calling her ‘the best singer he had ever seen on the show’.

She has since had hits with the songs Forever Young and So Good and featured on the Clean Bandit top five single Tears.

This October visitors to Powderham Castle will have the chance to get a glimpse of one of Devon’s most spectacular natural phenomona, the rut of Powderham’s ancient fallow deer herd.

Many will remember how the stunning deer park and its ancient trees played host this summer to 50,000 revelers at the Radio 1 Big Weekend. Celebrate Britain’s greatest Bard at Powderham Castle

To honour the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare, The Festival Players Theatre Company is bringing one of the Bard’s most famous plays, Hamlet, to Powderham Castle on Wednesday 17 August.

Powderham Castle is gearing up for an exciting, action-packed summer holiday season. The Castle’s summer season will run from Sunday 17 July until Monday 29 August and offers something for everyone.

Attractions this summer include Devon Bird of Prey’s majestic flying displays; which visitors can enjoy daily at 3.30pm along with a static display from 1pm throughout the Devon school holidays. Teignmouth Art Society's summer sketching day a success

On Thursday 17th June, Powderham Castle welcomed members of Teignmouth Art Society for the beginning of their summer sketching season.

This year, the event drew a record number of artists on the day, with 25 members attending. This included a mix of novice and experienced artists, with many taking inspiration from Powderham’s deer park.

The magical setting of Powderham Castle is a firm favourite with Teignmouth Art Society, who have visited Powderham at the start of their season for a number of years.
