Stagecoach South West has recently undergone a review of their customer service, resulting in a complete overhaul of their local processes. The bus operator recognised a growing need to revamp their business for the future to meet the changing needs of their customers.

A new campaign has been launched to encourage local people to support the South West’s leisure and tourism industry during the quieter autumn and winter months.

The accommodation and food service sector employs 271,000 people across the region, but many businesses have been hit hard by the devastating impact of lockdown, followed by the need to operate at reduced capacity and, more recently, limited opening hours.

SW has an above average number of smokers per capita in the UK, according to latest ONS figures

The South West has an above average number of smokers per capita in the UK, at 14.2% − above the average in England.

The best performing area in the South West is Stroud, with 9.6% of the population smoking. The three regions of Dorset Gloucestershire with 10.1% of the population smoking is the next lowest. East Devon is the third best performer, with 10.3% of people being smokers.

Dairy Farmers across SW set for major boost from new trade deals

Farmers across the South West are set to benefit from future Free Trade Agreements with the US, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, which will open up new opportunities to sell local produce overseas.

The International Trade Minister, Ranil Jayawardena visited a number of farms across the South West today including Quicke’s Farm and The Black Farmer, to see first-hand the agricultural exporting potential of the region and discuss future opportunities for growth.

SW sees spike in NHS patient satisfaction amid COVID-19 pandemic

New data from Patient Experience Platform (PEP) has shown that NHS patient satisfaction has hit 91% in South West England, a year-on-year increase of 12.9%. The increase sees the region once again ranked highest for patient satisfaction.

The findings come at a time of overwhelming general positivity towards the NHS, as front-line healthcare professionals continue to deliver essential treatment alongside the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) has launched a new online library offering people with sight loss in South West instant access to thousands of free books in formats they can read.

RNIB’s new platform already has more than 26,000 titles making it the UK's largest online library of Talking Books – the world’s first audiobooks, which were originally created by the charity for soldiers who were blinded in the First World War.

Funded by voluntary donations, RNIB’s Library service sends out up to 10,000 books per day and lent more than 1.5 million titles...
