Another jewel added to Exeter Cathedral Green's crown
Cathedral Green will be home to a new luxury retailer later this year as Michael Spiers Jewellers has confirmed that it will be relocating to Exeter’s most prestigious location.
The South West jewellery and watch retailer will move from its current Exeter premises on Castle Street to take the keys of 22 Cathedral Yard – currently home to Lugets of Exeter – on 1 April.
After an extensive refit, the new showroom is due to open on 16 June.
The move represents a major expansion for the family-run firm, as the new premises will be triple the size of their current Exeter showroom. This will enable more stock to go on display, the addition of four more designer brands and the store will take on two extra members of staff to boost the sales team.
Company Director, Adam Spiers, said: “We can’t wait to become a part of the Cathedral Green community, it’s a glorious spot for people to visit and we can’t think of a better place in Exeter for our showroom.
“With the recently announced excavation of the ancient Roman baths on the green, it is an exciting time for the area. It’s a vibrant part of the city and we will be able to offer a showroom in keeping with its luxurious identity and proud history.”
Already the city’s sole stockist of the most prestigious brands in the world, including Rolex, Tudor and MontBlanc, the move will also mean that Michael Spiers can expand its range in Exeter by adding TAG Heuer, Gucci, Tissot and Georg Jensen.
Having opened its first showroom in Exeter in July 1999, the independent jewellers has developed a strong relationship with the city’s shoppers, but the success of their Castle Street store over the past few years has meant that the company has had to look for larger more prominent premises.
Adam Spiers continued: “The new showroom on Cathedral Yard will be more spacious, which will allow us to bring in new globally recognised brands, expand our Rolex area and offer the largest collection of diamonds and coloured gemstones in the West Country. It’s an exciting new chapter for us and we look forward to sharing it with our customers.”
