Exeter school shines with exceptional reading and maths results

Staff and pupils at Whipton Barton Federation are celebrating exceptional academic achievements after newly released Department for Education data revealed that pupils at the school are outperforming national and regional averages in key areas of learning.

In 2024, pupils at Whipton Barton Federation outshone the national average of 61% and the Devon average of 57% meeting the expected standard in reading, writing, and maths. The Rainbow Flag Award is a national quality assurance framework for all schools and youth-centred organisations. St James School , part of the Ted Wragg Trust , has unveiled a new diversity mural this term.

The mural was designed and created by Pete the Poet after the school asked him to come up with something that celebrated diversity, as well as acting as a learning tool.

Congratulations to the University of Exeter’s winter graduates

Hundreds of students have been honoured for their years of hard work at winter graduation ceremonies at the University of Exeter.

More than 2,600 students, from 89 countries, graduated from 250 different prestigious courses. They were joined by 6,000 guests, there to wish them well.

Exeter College approved to deliver the Civil Aviation Authority Part 66 Licence

Exeter College has been delivering higher level courses in aircraft engineering since the early 2000s, with new partnerships and opportunities in the sector reflected in the changes in its offer over time.

This year the College became one of only three in England approved to sign off engineers for the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Part 66 Licence (issued under the CAA’s Part 147 regulation). Fourteen Beaver Scouts from 1st Cranbrook Beavers visited Exeter Airport for a behind the scenes look at some of the airport's most exciting operations and day-to-day activities.

Green-fingered youngsters help plant micro-forest in school grounds

Children and teachers from a primary school in Exeter have done their bit for the environment by planting a 400-tree micro-forest in their school grounds.

The youngsters from Monkerton Community Primary School were joined by local councillors from Exeter City Council and Devon County Council for the event, which was organised by Community Interest Company SocieTree.
