Geo-tagging tech firm move into Science Park
A geo-tagging video technology firm has moved into the Exeter Science Park Centre following incubation in the Innovation Centre at the University of Exeter.
RouteShoot, founded in September 2012, specialises in the production of geo-referenced video and route tracking for public and private sector organisations as well as a wide range of consumers.
The firm works with customers across the world including The World Bank, Premier Utility Services, Mouchel and Worcestershire and Dorset County Councils in the UK. Their move to the purpose-built Exeter Science Park Centre comes as the firm seeks collaboration and expansion opportunities.
Gary Wilson, Director of RouteShoot, previously worked as a civil engineer and highway engineer all over the UK. He founded RouteShoot in a bid to meet the industry’s growing need for on-demand video evidence and data gathering.
Gary said: “The Exeter Science Park Centre is exactly the sort of premises we were looking for. Having grown significantly over the past few years, it was a logical move for us and we are really thrilled with our new base as well as the support we have received from the team here. We’re surrounded by like-minded people from a range of different backgrounds so it’s already opened up a lot of opportunities for us. We’re already talking to one company in the Centre that we might be able to work with.
He continued: “Simply being based here adds to our credibility as a company. Clients that come to visit us recognise that this is a hub for excellence and innovation. Best of all is the access to and from the Centre. We spend a lot of our time visiting clients across the UK, and the location here next to the M5 and the airport is unbeatable. It is a professional yet laid back atmosphere, and the extra facilities have already proved useful, including the meeting rooms and hot desk facilities which will allow us to grow at a steady rate.”
RouteShoot’s service uses innovative geo-referenced video and route tracking technology through their bespoke smartphone application and dedicated website, allowing users to share their videos with colleagues, customers and other stakeholders.
The software is flexible and has been designed to suit almost any industry to supply video surveys and inspections, facilities management, inventory collection and verification and proof of work carried out. It is commonly used by highways agencies, utility companies, transport and refuse collection operations. For all health fans and fitness fanatics, the software can also be used to record the route, distance and speed of their run, walk, cycle and even equine eventing.
Gerry Shattock, General Manager of Exeter Science Park said: “The Science Park Centre itself and the Park as a whole have been designed to allow companies the scope to expand. RouteShoot are going from strength to strength and I’m glad that here at the Park: we can support their growth, allowing them access to all of the facilities they need, when they need them. RouteShoot have moved in at a very exciting time, with a lot more tenants arriving over the next couple of months and some new buildings going up. The Park is really starting to become a node for collaboration and business growth.”
RouteShoot are one of many firms that have recently moved into the Centre, joining companies such as Exeter Scientific Developments, specialists in developing innovative medical equipment used for urology diagnostics.
The building of the Science Park Centre has been made possible with shareholder equity from Devon County Council, East Devon District Council, Exeter City Council, the University of Exeter; the Heart of the South West LEP which committed £4.5m loan from the Growing Places Fund; and a £1 million grant from the Regional Growth Fund.
