Stagecoach announces changes to Torbay bus network
Stagecoach South West has announced that, from 29 October 2017, it will be making a number of changes to its Torbay bus services, improving reliability and connectivity over a core part of its network.
The Hop12 timetable will remain largely unchanged, with some alterations to early morning journeys in order to improve reliability.
On the 13, there will be minor changes to morning and afternoon peak journeys to improve connections for commuters. On school days, the 0820 arrival into Newton Abbot will extend to Newton Abbot College. There will be a new journey at 1712 from Torbay Hospital to Brixham and, as a consequence, the current 1735 departure from South Devon College will leave at 1755.
The current service 13 0640 departure from South Devon College will be replaced by an additional journey on the Hop22 at 0645. During the winter, there will also be additional Sunday journeys on the Hop22 between Torquay and St Marychurch whilst the Hop122 open top service is not running.
In Teignmouth, the Hop22 will operate via Exeter Road and New Road for journeys towards Dawlish only, providing a helpful service for customers travelling up hill. Towards Torquay, buses will continue to serve the current route.
Whilst there are no changes to the timetable, the 23 will see a change in route during the daytime, using Davis Avenue in both directions and turning at Kingsway Avenue. This is to overcome the issue of poor parking in Gibson Avenue.
The 32 will no longer serve The Willows and will also see a change in frequency to every 15 minutes. Single deck buses will be allocated to the route, rather than mini buses to ensure capacity is maintained for customers. Customers travelling to The Willows can connect in Torquay onto route 34 which runs up every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday and half hourly on Sundays. Route 13 will also to continue to provide a direct connection from Shiphay.
On Sundays, route 34 will see the introduction of an amended timetable to improve spacing and connections with routes 31 and 32.
The Hop122 open top service will finish for the winter on Saturday 28 October before returning for Easter 2018.
New timetables are available to view online and will be available in print shortly. Customers can also download the free Stagecoach app - available in the App and Play stores - or use the website journey planner to plan their journeys. New timetable information will be available via the app or journey planner from week commencing 23 October.
