Exeter Family Friendly raise £2.5k

A team of executives from Exeter Family Friendly raised £2675 for Devon-based charity Rainbow Living after cycling 72 miles from Wellington to Salcombe.

Starting at 8:30am, Exeter Family’s Andy Chapman (CEO), Simon Philp, Paul Austin, Alan Ord and Adrian Hodgkinson crossed the finish line at 16:30pm, to raise money for the protection provider’s charity of the year.

Rainbow Living provide housing for adults with learning disabilities so they can live with their peers in supported accommodation and the funds raised from the cycle will go towards the charity’s third house.

The team, who had their share of challenges throughout the ride, with Austin incurring three punctures, were met by Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Lesley Robson, when they took their first pit-stop at their Exeter offices.

Director of Distribution and Marketing, Simon Philp, said:

“The ride was hugely challenging for us as our team had a real mixture of cycling experience. The ride covered some of the toughest hills in Devon but we had so much support from everyone in the office and at Rainbow Living.

He continued: “It’s a great feeling to know that we’ve raised well over our fundraising target and that we all made it to the finish line in one piece.”

Rainbow Living’s Ruth Airdrie said: “We are very grateful to Exeter Family Friendly. We can only do what we do through great fundraising events like this and the generosity of people who sponsor them.”
