Leading Women UK Election Special
In the lead up to the 2015 General Election, Leading Women UK hosted a series of Election Special networking events across Devon.
These events were open to men and women and gave attendees the chance to have their questions answered by a panel of political representatives.
On Thursday 16 April the Exeter Election Special took place at the Southgate Hotel.
The network was joined by Labour candidate Ben Bradshaw; Conservative candidate Dom Morris and Green Party candidate Diana Moore.
The ‘Question Time’ style discussion was facilitated by local business-women and Leading Women UK Exeter Champions, Tania West and Ashley Petrons.
The event was kindly sponsored by leading South West based accountancy firm, Bishop Fleming.
Fleur Lewis, Partner at Bishop Fleming Chartered Accountants, said: “The Leading Women Election Special last night was a fantastic event, and Bishop Fleming Chartered Accountants is delighted to sponsor Leading Women UK.
"Meeting and questioning the candidates was a great way for Devon-business owners to highlight important local issues, such as the closure of the Exeter women’s refuge and the parties’ plans for NHS funding. The candidates also faced some tough questions about the gender pay gap and women’s roles in party politics in future.”
The last of the Election Special events will be taking place on Monday 20 April at Blackpool Sands from 6.30-8.30pm. Labour candidate, Nicky Williams; Dr Sarah Wollaston, the Conservative candidate; and Green Party candidate, Gill Coombs will face questions from the South Hams networking group.
