Exeter City staff join PCUK charity cycle from London to Amsterdam
A team of cyclists from business across Exeter will be taking part in a charity bike ride from London to Amsterdam, including three members of staff from Exeter City FC.
The team, which includes our hospitality and events manager Jake Wood, finance assistant Lynn Travis and media manager Simon Larkins, are taking on the 145-mile trip to the Dutch capital to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
The annual event, which is organized by the EFL and League Managers Association, sees football fans from around the country join some famous faces from the game as they pedal their way from Leo Valley VeloPark in London to Harwich on day one before catching the overnight ferry to Hook, in Holland and cycling the 60 miles to Amsterdam on day two.
Last year the event attracted the likes of former Leeds United and Preston North End manager Simon Grayson, ex-England captain Terry Butcher and QPR director of football Les Ferdinand.
This year the event will take place on June 1 and 2. The team representing Exeter at this years’ events includes members of staff from Mi-space, Midas Group, LWS Interior Solutions and Hyundai.
The divisional director of Mi-space AJ Eaton, who is taking part in the event, said: “Playing our part in the local community is a key priority of our business and I’m delighted that Mi-space can support such a worthwhile cause.
“Seeing the statistic that one man every 45 minutes dies from this disease proves that there is still so much to do so it’s crucial we continue to beat the drum and continue to raise awareness. Cycling to Amsterdam for this fantastic charity will be raising vital funds to help relegate the most common cancer in men.”
The Exeter team is as follows: AJ Eaton (divisional director of Mi-space), Mike Borkowski (business development manager of Midas Group), Matt Howells (business development manager of Mi-space), John Wood, Sam Heritage (operations coordinator Mi-space), Dave Tasker (Test Valley BC), Ben Lee (Hampshire Constabulary), Stuart Shaw (managing director LWS Interior Solutions) and Matt Trapnell (Hyundai), Simon Larkins (media manager Exeter City), Jake Wood (hospitality and events manager Exeter City), Lynn Travis (finance assistant Exeter City).
The team are being supported by Route2Bike shop in Topsham, RecoverFit gym, owned by Ryan Brunt in Marsh Barton, Thrifty Car Rental and Ashley House.
