Bridge Road in Exeter to close next weekend
Bridge Road in Exeter is due to be closed from 10pm on Friday 23 June until 5am on Monday 26 June.
The closure will enable work to be carried out to reconstruct pavements in a number of areas including south of the bascule bridge, and both sides of the Matford splitter island.
Resurfacing will also take place on paths near the canal, which was postponed from earlier in the month due to wet weather, and on footpaths approaching the rail bridge.
Work on the Countess Wear Flood Relief structure and the approach to the Swing Bridge will also continue throughout the weekend, along with installation of new lighting columns and safety barriers.
The diversion route will be signed via Topsham Road, Alphington Road, Marsh Barton and the A379. Details of the diversion route are available here.

Stagecoach Services heading towards Exminster will be diverted via Barrack Road, Topsham Road and Holloway Street, then on to Western Way to Exe Bridges, Alphington Road to pass Sainsburys, and via Church Road then Alphin Brook Road, onto Hennock Road Central, through to The Devon Hotel roundabout and resume their normal route from Bridge Road roundabout. Services towards Exeter will follow the reverse of this route.
Services 39, X38, X46, X64 towards A38/A380 will continue to Countess Wear roundabout, then via A379 Rydon Lane, and onto M5 to join A38 to resume their normal route. When these services head towards Exeter, from the A38, they will divert via the M5 to the A379 then via the Countess Wear roundabout, and onto Topsham Road to resume their normal route.
Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to access Bridge Road during the closure via temporary paths. They are advised to take care and follow the site signage and any instructions from site staff.
