Kitsons Solicitors has shown its ongoing commitment to making a difference to local people by awarding YMCA Exeter £1,000 to help offer training and work opportunities to those in need.

The grant will support the group to work with disengaged young people in ‪Exeter‬ to gain an accredited qualification, while helping to develop confidence, self-esteem and raise their future aspirations.‬‬

Kitsons, which has offices in Exeter, Torquay and Plymouth, set up a Fund with local charity Devon Community Foundation a number of years ago to enable the firm to support community projects across Devon, forever. Staff at Kitsons help to decide which local causes to support and continue to fundraise to add to the Fund which now stands at £50,000.

James Cross, Managing Partner of Kitsons said, “The Foundation does an amazing job, using its own resources to promote groups in Devon. As a local legal firm we are deeply embedded in our communities and we are entirely dedicated to making a real difference for the people in them, which is why we created the fund.”

Gareth Sorsby, Senior Manager of YMCA Exeter said, “Without such fantastic support from the Foundation and their many donors such as Kitsons, many of our projects simply wouldn't exist. Through donations like this we are able to support the most marginalised and disadvantaged individuals to better their future life prospects and instil a sense of hope and purpose into their situations.”

Martha Wilkinson, Chief Executive of Devon Community Foundation said, “Finding a job that pays the bills and having the chance to further your skills is a way of life for most of us, but for some people opportunities are far and few between."

"Being able to support local groups like YMCA Exeter is absolutely essential to our neighbourhoods and is exactly why the Foundation exists. Each and every group we invest in goes above and beyond to help people in need and makes a huge difference to those living in our local communities.”
