Police warning after spate of thefts from vehicles in Exeter

Police in Exeter are advising residents to be vigilant following a spate of theft from vehicles.

A number of vehicles have been entered having been left unlocked or entered by unknown means without causing damage, and property stolen.

Residents are asked to be alert to unusual people in their area, to keep all vehicles locked, keep valuables out of sight and to report all suspicious activity to the police.

In the latest spike of crimes vehicles were entered in the Beacon Heath and Heavitree areas overnight.

A Nissan vehicle was entered whilst parked on the driveway of a property in Juniper Close, in Beacon Heath and a Sat Nav, and power tools valued at £225 were stolen.

Two other vehicles parked in Round Table Meet in Whipton were also targeted overnight.

The first vehicle, a Toyoto was parked on the driveway of a house and a Sat Nav valued at £300 was stolen.

The second vehicle, a Ford Fiesta was parked on the road outside a property, and following a search a Sat Nav was also stolen.

A Honda motor vehicle parked on a driveway in Pinwood Meadow, Beacon Heath was entered overnight and a mobile phone together with a small amount of cash was stolen.

A 37 year old man has since been arrested on supsicion of theft in connection with this incident and remains in custody awaitng interview.

In the final reported incident overnight, a Ford Focus vehicle was entered whilst parked outside a house in Stanway, Heavitree.

Property including a pair of headphones and a torch were stolen.
