Exeter, Mid and East Devon commercial radio station Radio Exe has just received its highest ratings.

Independent figures published today by Rajar/Ipsos MORI/BMRB show that 29,000 people tune to the station each week and they’re listening for longer. It

means that station has now overtaken two national stations, Classic FM and BBC 5 Live, to achieve its highest share of listening in the area.

Among the other key highlights:

  • Overall listening to Radio Exe has increased by nearly half (47 per cent) in the past year
  • People in the area are switching away from national stations and coming back to local radio
  • Radio Exe’s weekly reach, total hours and market share are at record levels
  • Three-quarters of listeners are in the 25 to 54 year age group

Radio Exe chariman Rex Rozario OBE says: “As a station, we take care to listen to what our audience want from us.

"Overwhelmingly they want to be entertained, with a greater range of music than they get from other stations, mixed with news, travel and information about Devon.

"The station’s owned and produced by people who live in – and love – this area, and we’re delighted more people are choosing us.”
