Substantial cannabis seizure in Axminster

Police have arrested a man after a substantial cannabis seizure in Axminster.

Officers were called to the former Axe Vale Social club, in Chard Street, after reports of a strong smell of cannabis in the area.

The officers attended the address around 7.30 pm on Thursday 7 July and arrested a 27 year old man on suspicion of production of the class B drug.

The cannabis was spread over three floors, and due to the extensive amount of equipment and plants found a specialist team of officers will go back to seize the material.

Chard Street will therefore be closed while the operation gets underway, which is expected to begin at 12 noon today (Friday 8 July).

The man remains in police custody while investigations are ongoing.
