Plymouth Albion sold to consortium of local businessmen

David Kirk of Kirks Insolvency announced today that he is pleased to be able to report the sale of Plymouth Albion Rugby Club.

Following the notice of intention to appoint an Administrator filed in Court on the 24th March and a brief period of marketing a deal was agreed with a consortium of local businessmen.

The new owners, David Venables and Bruce Priday, who are both former players, have set up a new company called Plymouth Albion Rugby Football Club (2016) Ltd.

This includes the events business and secures the transfer of all of the employees including the players and commercial staff to a new employer without any redundancies.

As a condition of the sale the new owners have agreed to honour any wedding and functions bookings where deposits have already been paid and will also honour any season ticket bookings.

David Kirk said “This is such good news for the local community, the club fans, for safeguarding jobs and the venue’s calendar of events which included several weddings.” 

David Kirk also said "I would like to thank the current club directors, employees, Ashfords Solicitors, Lambert Smith Hampton and the RFU for all their help in making the sale as smooth as possible in these difficult circumstances".

An application was made to the High Court in Bristol today and immediately on the granting of the Administration order the club was sold to the new owners.
