Persimmon Homes has appointed a new regional construction director in its Cornwall and West Devon region.

Mike Crawford, who has chalked up more than 20 years in the housing industry, joins Persimmon from Bloor Homes where he served as a construction director.

Mike is a highly experienced chartered construction director with a proven and consistent track record for leading teams, delivering the highest levels of safety management, quality standards, and business objectives, whilst understanding the requirements of key partners and clients.

He will be responsible for driving construction performance in Cornwall and West Devon against build targets, quality targets, and implementation of group policies and procedures.

Commenting on his new role, Mike said: “I am delighted to be joining Persimmon Homes at such an exciting time for the business in Cornwall and West Devon.

“The opportunity to work for a company with a growing presence in the area was very attractive, and I’m looking forward to putting my mark on the business, which is putting quality and customer service at the forefront of everything they do.

“The changes being implemented across the business at a group and local level are being seriously recognised across the market, and Persimmon is becoming known as the place to be within the industry.

“I’m looking forward to working with the team in Cornwall and West Devon to continue the recent improvements in the quality of our build, and ensuring we deliver the best possible homes for local people.”

Mike entered the industry at the age of 19, working as a site labourer for Alfred McAlpine Homes, where he impressed and was swiftly promoted through the ranks.

After McAlpine were taken over by Taylor Wimpey, he progressed to a role as a senior site manager winning 16 NHBC awards in the process, including three South West Regional Titles, and three UK Supreme Runner Up Awards.

These award-winning standards saw Mike move to Barratt Homes as a contracts manager before a further promotion to divisional construction manager.

More recently, he has worked for Linden Homes, Burrington Estates, Vistry and as construction director at Bloor Homes.

Welcoming Mike to the position, Persimmon’s managing director in Cornwall and West Devon, Adam Church, said: “This is a fantastic appointment for the business, as we look to grow and strengthen the business in 2022 and beyond.

“Mike will oversee the construction of much-needed new homes for local families across the region, as we aim to launch a number of new developments across Cornwall and West Devon.

“He has a wealth of knowledge and experience, and the appointment will strengthen our consistent construction of good quality and affordable homes for local people in communities that are crying out for increased housing provision.

“Persimmon Cornwall and West Devon are delighted to welcome Mike on board as we increase our presence locally and deliver a positive legacy for our customers, communities and stakeholders.”
