Exeter businesses urged to maximise opportunities

Richard Palmer, Managing Director of business training enterprise Estadia is calling on Exeter businesses to maximise the opportunities delivered by the new national focus on the city.

Mr Palmer stated: “The news that IKEA is opening in Exeter is yet another indication of the growing status of the city as a viable location for business that will no doubt act as a further draw for other potential investors. Exeter has had an incredible year of prestigious national awards as well as celebrating the launch of retail giant John Lewis. But existing businesses must focus on preparation to embrace the opportunities that will arise from this spotlight on Exeter.”

Richard who has recently gained Institute of Sales and Marketing Management training status, works with companies across the region to enhance their business operations. Richard explained: “With the city’s heightened profile, Exeter businesses can expect a lift in retail morale and overall confidence. It is therefore essential businesses are ready to maximise these opportunities.”

Richard continued: “This is the time for businesses to invest internally. Training is a valuable investment for any sized company because it provides energized employees who are focused and ready to grab the opportunities that stimulate growth.”

Richard is running a series of business training courses in Exeter throughout April covering topics such as building relationships, negotiation techniques, as well as motivation and confidence. The training courses are suitable for different levels of employees who work in either a business to business or consumer focused environment.

George Bannister from Blackdown Shepherd Huts, recently attended one of Richard’s courses at St Olaves Hotel in Exeter. He added: “I was not sure that training was the right path for us; but the effect has been so positive. Richard has helped to dispel some negative preconceptions we had about the limitations of our business and he has given us the confidence to take the business forward. We are now looking to double the size of our workshop and take on more staff.”

Mr Palmer concluded: “Exeter is a vibrant city that is achieving fantastic growth against a very bleak economic outlook. I wholly commend the city’s efforts and support the local launch of the Exeter Expect Success campaign.”
