Over 50 personal assistants, secretaries and other support staff attended the latest career enhancing event organized by the Exeter PA Network.

Delegates at the event held at the Innovation Centre on Exeter University’s main campus, benefited from a talk by Kate Doodson, Business and Operations Manager, Cosmic Ethical IT, who introduced a range of new apps to support working on the go.

Gavin Jones, Director at worldwide recruitment agency, Hays Recruiting, gave an insight into the impact that the attitudes and aspirations of Gen-Y are having on PA roles and how these high achievers born between 1980 and 1995 require different relationships and collaborative working practices.

Event organiser Kim Glover, PA to the Managing Partner at Michelmores LLP, said: “The event lasted over three hours but because the speakers were so inspirational, it went by in a flash.  Kate Doodson is an amazing speaker who really engages her audience with huge amount of knowledge and energy.

“The statistics provided by Gavin Jones regarding what Gen-Y are looking for from their employers and how a work/life balance is so important to them was fascinating and gave everyone real food for thought.

“I’d like to thank everyone for attending and especially Liz Charlwood at the Innovation Centre for her superb organization.  The feedback from delegates has been fantastic and we can’t wait for the next event.”

The next PA Network Event takes place on March 22nd at the Imperial Hotel Torquay.

The theme is “Image & Impact” and there will be a presentation from Newton Abbot based Image Consultant, Jo Smallbones.
