Adoption centre launches 'Santa Paws Appeal'

Exeter Axhayes Adoption Centre has launched an appeal for Christmas.

The centre has 200-plus cats and kittens in its care, all looking for new homes. Sadly this means that many cats and kittens have to spend Christmas and New Year in the centre.

This year the Adoption Centre has launch its Santa Paws Appeal.

The idea is a simple one. They are asking that people fill a box, similar in size to a Felix cat food box with cat toys, food, treats, possibly a Christmas card. Then wrap it up and donate it to the centre.

Boxes can be taken to the centre or dropped off in one of the many drop off points being set up around the city.

To find out more about the appeal you can visit the appeal website https://www.sites.google.com/site/santapawsappeal/ or search 'Santa Paws Appeal' on facebook.

A spokesperson for the centre said: "Sadly we have many cats over Christmas and New Year. Whilst we are all at home enjoying the celebrations with friends and family, our cats are at the centre, so we would like to give them something new and special for the festivities.

"We are very excited about this appeal as it's the first time we have launched an appeal of this kind here at Axhayes.

"We do hope that the people of Exeter and Devon will take the cats and kittens to heart and support us. We rely totally on the kindness and generosity of the public and without their support we would be unable to help as many as we do".
