Jurassic Classic set to be a scorcher!
Prostate Cancer UK has unveiled details of the entertainment and activities on offer at its cycling event being held next Sunday (11 August) in Exmouth.
Taking its name from the Jurassic coastline it embraces, Jurassic Classic will see over 900 cyclists pass through some of Devon’s most picturesque coastline when it comes to the county on 11th August.
On the day, cyclists and their supporters will not only be rewarded by the stunning views but also the selection of activities and refreshments available. From bouncy castles and face painting to sports massage therapy and Exmouth cycles offering mechanical support and exhibiting, it is set to provide entertainment for all.
Not only that but participants, friends and families can enjoy a variety of hot and cold food or a drink at Exmouth Rugby club bar. There will also be tents dressed with a Tea For Victory theme, enabling people to enjoy hot beverages and delicious cakes, whilst supporting another of Prostate Cancer UK’s initiatives.
Online entries to take part will close on Wednesday 7 August. Any last minute entrants can register for the cycle ride this weekend in the registration tent at the club, with registrations between 2pm and 6pm on Saturday 10th and from 6am on Sunday 11th August.
Keen cyclist and Radio DJ Mark Goodier is encouraging people to take to two wheels and join him in the Jurassic Classic. He said: “I love Prostate Cancer UK bike rides, they are always fantastic and I am so excited to take part in such a spectacular course in a beautiful part of the country.
“I lost my father-in-law to prostate cancer, so I know only too well how important these cycling events are, as they draw attention to and raise funds for a very important cause.”
Andy Sallnow, Sporting Events Manager at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “We are delighted to be holding our second Jurassic Classic bike ride this summer and thrilled that over 900 people have already signed up in support of Prostate Cancer UK. We are encouraging participants and their supporters to come along and enjoy the events village after the ride.
“With over 40,000 men diagnosed with prostate cancer each year in the UK and one man dying every hour, it is our aim to help more men survive and enjoy a better quality of life. This event is set to raise vital funds which will help us provide dedicated support and information to men and their families affected by prostate cancer and will help us fund research to help fight the disease.”
