Last chance to help Argos raise £2m for Barnardo’s
Local families and children have just a few more days to donate their pre-loved toys to the Argos Toy Exchange in support of children’s charity Barnardo’s, which ends on 25th November.
The Argos Toy Exchange, a fundraising initiative which kicked off in October, encourages parents and children across the county to donate unwanted toys to their local Argos or Barnardo’s store, and in return they will receive a £5.00 gift voucher to redeem when they spend £35 or more on toys at Argos up until Christmas Eve. The money raised from the sale of the donated toys will go directly to support the local and national work of Barnardo’s.
Gerard Cousins, Barnardo’s Director of Retail and Trading said: “We have been amazed by the generosity of people since the Argos Toy Exchange was launched. The quality of the toys donated and numbers of bags we have received has been simply brilliant!
“This year is the third year of the campaign and we were more ambitious than ever, setting an overall target of £2 million from the three years combined. There’s only one week to go now so we really want everyone to pull out all the stops and help us reach our goal. So for those who haven’t yet donated, please have one last look for those pre-loved toys and donate to your local Argos or Barnardo’s store.
“Christmas can be a difficult time for some and every penny of profit from the sale of these pre-loved toys in Barnardo’s stores will go directly towards our work with some of the UK’s most disadvantaged children and families.”
Amy Whidburn, Head of Corporate Responsibility at Argos commented: “We’ve seen some generous donations so far in across the country, but we’re asking people to have that one last sort out and help increase donations before our deadline.”
“Each donation, plays its part in helping others, particularly supporting local services for children and young people, so please do help where you can.”
Donated toys can be taken to Argos and Barnardo’s stores until Tuesday 25th November. Members of the public will be able to swap their pre-loved toys in exchange for a £5 voucher, which can go towards the cost of new toys (minimum £35 spend) to be redeemed at Argos by 24 December 2014.
