Look silly for a great cause... do the Great West Run for Exeter YMCA
Local charity Exeter YMCA is issuing the challenge, to those with a daring heart, to run the Great West Run on behalf of Exeter YMCA wearing an imaginative costume. The runner with the most impressive costume will receive two day passes at the Exeter Golf and Country Club as a prize.
Exeter YMCA Chief Executive, Peter Stephenson, said, ‘For most of us a half marathon is gruelling enough but some people are looking for that extra edge. Dressing up as your favourite superhero, a fairy, a gorilla, or whatever idea you have, will make the event a greater challenge, will be good fun and will raise even more sponsorship for a fantastic cause’.
Exeter YMCA is a local charity that provides accommodation and support to homeless young people from across Devon. Peter Stephenson explains, ‘Youth homelessness is a hidden but very real problem. It is a sad reality for far too many young people that they have nowhere safe and certain to go each night. The Great West is a fantastic opportunity for members of the public to take on a personal challenge whilst raising awareness and money to ensure that homeless young people see the brighter future which they deserve.’
Exeter YMCA is an affiliate charity of the Great West Run and are inviting you to run on their behalf, whether dressed normally or in fancy dress. They offer a discounted entry and personalised T-shirts for everyone who runs for them and are offering a prize to the highest fundraiser of 2 early-bird dinners and a bottle of house wine (value of approx. £50) at the Conservatory Restaurant, one of Exeter's most well-regarded restaurants, as well as a bottle of bubbly to the fastest runner on their team.
