Chic & Unique Flower Arrangements book launched

Local floristry College, The Academy of Floral Art, has recently released their first book, published by David & Charles, called Chic & Unique Flower Arrangements

Comprising of over 35 stunning designs submitted by a range of talented florists, Donna Cann MDPF, Catherine Date NDSF Cert Ed and Amanda Randell MDPF including the authors Tina Parkes and Julie Collins who wanted to create a cookery-style book on floral table arrangements including an ingredients list, the recipe on how to make each design, tips, timings and skill knowledge required.

The book has also been released in America, Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand and is being translated into German, Italian and Spanish.

The book has had a flying start in America achieving a sale over 2,000 copies in its first month since its launch and is currently the International publishers 3rd highest selling book.

Tina Parkes and Julie Collins the authors of the book and owners of the Academy of Floral Art based in Dunchideock, near Exeter are off to Las Vegas next week to attend the floral event of the year in the USA to the AIFD (American Institute of Floral Designers), Symposium which this year is called, ‘Passion’.  

Tina said: “We are thrilled at the reception the book has had and we can’t wait to meet readers face to face”. 

Julie added, “It’s incredibly humbling to have the book do so well, we thought really carefully about how to deliver the information in a way that would be understood effectively.”

The floral cultural industry is currently worth more than the UK music industry and is the next industry to blossom on a global scale through the medium of Television, watch this space...

The Academy recently counted amongst their successes, students winning first place both in the Intermediate and Advanced sections at the World Skills Competitions regional heat in Manchester and four Academicians took part and won medals at Chelsea Centenary Flower Show 2013.
