New pool for Exeter School
Exeter School has announced to parents plans for a new pool and changing facilities thanks to an anonymous donation.
A donor, who wishes to remain unnamed, has generously donated the funds to build a new 25-metre, covered, competition-standard, swimming pool.
The school governors have agreed to match the funding to enable much-needed improvements to the boys’ changing room and locker facilities and to create an exciting list of improvements to spectator and participants’ facilities in the Sports Hall.
The school is currently in the process of submitting plans for the restructured sports department and it is expected that the work will be carried out over the next two years or so.
Headmaster Bob Griffin says in his letter to parents: "This is a unique opportunity which will enable every pupil at Exeter School to enjoy swimming every week throughout the year as well as countless galas and competitions.
"It is also our intention that the new, four-lane, swimming pool be used to promote a lifelong love of swimming and exercise in every pupil at Exeter School and also, significantly, for local schools and clubs and groups for children and young people, in line with our charitable status".
