Get creative with Devon Libraries

Libraries across Devon are encouraging residents to ‘think differently’ this month as part of a project to inspire creativity.

A series of events and activities associated with experiment, discovery, play, learning and reflection will be held throughout June aimed getting people to try something new.

Designed for those of all ages, they include activities such as learning to use a smart phone, creating treasures at a free play table, cake decorating, knitting and discovering how e-book readers work.

Councillor Roger Croad, Devon County Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “Our libraries have always been places where people can discover new ideas and this is an opportunity to reinvigorate that purpose.

“Learning something new can be really satisfying and a great confidence booster. Even if it’s just for fun, it is important that we take time to experience new things and our libraries are full of resources to help you do just that, so come along and get stuck in!”

Exeter Central Library
Saturday 22 June, 10am-noon: Raspberry Jam (Raspberry Pi event)

Seaton Library
Saturday 6 July, 10am-1pm: Be smarter with your smartphone. Bring along your smartphone and learn more about apps and getting the most out of your phone.

Tiverton Library
17-22 June: Free 'Make and Play' table during opening hours.

Newton Abbot Library at The Passmore Edwards Centre
Saturday 8 June & Saturday 22 June, 10am-non: Do you want to know more about E books and E readers.  Find out how to borrow e books from your local library.
Saturday 22 June, 1pm-3pm: Creative Clay Modelling in the Craft Studio.
