Killerton gears up for classic car takeover

Around 500 vintage vehicles are parking up in style to celebrate Classic Car Day at Killerton, the National Trust estate outside Exeter.

On Sunday 15 May, visitors can admire unique cars, enjoy live bands and shop at food and craft stalls against the backdrop of the historic parkland.

Classic car enthusiasts travel far and wide to show off their prized vehicles at the popular event in the hope of winning the coveted Killerton House Cup for the ‘best car in show’.

In addition, visitors can explore over 40 stalls selling jewellery, furniture, silk scarves and textiles; and food lovers can tuck into a delicious range of sweet and savoury food and meet regular traders from Killerton’s monthly farmers’ market selling local produce.

There will be a bar and the chance to enjoy award-winning cider made on the estate. Music from Tiverton Town Band and All Jazzed Up will set the atmosphere. For big and little kids, there will also be two bouncy castles.

Tim Harris, Visitor Experience Manager said: “With bags of history, Killerton is the perfect setting for vintage classics. There will be something for everyone, so gather your friends and family to join us for a great day out.”

Tim added: “The National Trust is a charity and money raised from flagship events such as this help us to fund vital conservation work on the estate.”

The event runs from 10am-5pm and normal admission fees apply. The National Trust is a charity so proceeds from this event helps to fund conservation work at Killerton.
