'After What Comes Before' comes to Exeter

After What Comes Before, an exciting new performance by Leeds-based Manic Chord Theatre company is coming to Exeter's Bike Shed Theatre on Monday 17 March.

The company was formed by Leeds University graduates Alex Monk, Sam Berrill and David Cartwright in September 2012, and is dedicated to the ideas of collective creation and ensemble theatre.

The Manic Chord Theatre company is becoming increasingly well-known for its raw and energetic works, often with an emphasis on story tell and stunning visuals. They are resident artists at Temple.Works.Leeds and offer internships to students in Leeds providing the chance to work with the company on its artistic output and as part of the education programme.

After What Comes Before is the company's first show and was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013, receiving high audience numbers and positive critical acclaim, with double five stars. The Festival wrote that the show ‘fizzes with energy, is hysterically funny, and is an unforgettable experience’.

After What Comes Before follows a Neuroscientist, Psychologist and Physicist as they endeavour to create a machine which can extract thoughts, and explores the theme of conditioning within society, raising important questions regarding control, medication and self-expression.

Manic Chord Theatre prides itself on its energetic, physical and competitive style. Carving out a distinct method of collective creation, the company look to entertain and raise questions through their work.
