Thousands of Olly Murs fans have been left disappointed after it was announced that his concert at Powderham Castle next weekend has been cancelled.

Event organisers, Stephen C Associates Limited, has gone into insolvency and is now expected to go into liquidation.

The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra  Proms event which was due to take place on Sunday 30 July has also been cancelled.

Stephen C Associates Limited said: “We are sorry to inform you that the company Stephen C Associates Limited, promoter of numerous outdoor shows, has ceased to trade. It is insolvent and is expected to go into liquidation shortly.   “The shows affected include the Olly Murs concert planned for 29  July and BSO Proms at the Castle both at Powderham Castle, Exeter which will now NOT take place. Please do not turn up at the venue for these shows.

“Fans will be contacted directly by the ticket agency they purchased tickets through. If ticket holders do not hear from the ticketing company they should contact them directly where further information will be available.

“As a result, the company is not in a position to offer you a refund. However, if you bought tickets with a credit card, you should contact your credit card company immediately and ask them to refund your money. If you have purchased your tickets through one of the nominated ticket agents you should contact them in the first instance.“

Charlie and AJ Courtenay, the Earl and Countess of Devon, said: "We are very sad to learn that promoter Stephen McManus is cancelling his booking at Powderham and that next weekend’s Olly Murs and BSO concerts will not able to go ahead .

“Of all the events during this busy Powderham summer season, these were two particular favourites.  Both Olly and the BSO have played at Powderham before and they were coming back by popular demand, particularly from our local community in and around Kenton.

“We have worked hard with Stephen C Associates and with Teignbridge District Council to bring these world-renowned artists to Powderham, and to organize two wonderful summer evenings in the deer park. The events were fully prepared and due to be well attended, and we understand the liquidation of Stephen C. Associates is due to unforeseen and unrelated factors – but of course it is the ticket holders and Powderham’s community who will be most let down.

“We are so sorry for all those who booked tickets and were looking forward to a great night.  While we cannot hope to make up for the disappointment of missing these shows, we are looking at ways to make a gesture for those who have bought tickets.  We are considering various options to see what Powderham can do to for this enthusiastic audience.  We will keep you posted - Please keep an eye on our website for any announcements – www.powderham.co.uk

“After a successful summer in 2016, and a number of great events already this year, this is a real blow.  We want to continue to bring top quality live performances to the region for the benefit of local music fans, and will work hard to do so while learning what we can from this really unfortunate news."

Any enquiries regarding tickets and refunds should be directed to the provider you purchased from, or directly to the appointed liquidators: Herron Fisher - email: kirsty.penfold@herronfisher.co.uk
