On the opening night of the first ever Relight My Fire festival tomorrow (Tuesday), join performance poet Matt Harvey as he premieres his new energy-inspired collection, The Element In the Room.

Currently poet-in-residence with Regen SW, (a centre for expertise in sustainable energy), Matt has gleaned some stimulating new material inspired by our love affair with energy.

Where do we go from here? If anyone can make light of the situation, it’s this man. Putting solar under the spotlight and giving wind-turbines a twist, Matt introduces a packed programme with featured poet Jackie Juno (Grand Bard of Exeter) and special guest speakers, Gill Wyatt (Director, Exeter Community Energy), Gabriel Wondrausch (MD, Sun Gift Solar) and Merlin Hyman (CE, Regen SW).

Matt returns from a busy summer schedule with appearances at Way With Words, Womad and Edinburgh.

The Bike Shed looks forward to welcoming the Wondermentalist and hearing his sparky new selection, with an exhilarating open slam finale and live music in the bar. If you want to change the world sustainably, discover your literary ammunition here. And, for one night only, guests will receive a copy of Matt’s new illustrated poetry book absolutely free!

Featured Poets are: Matt Harvey and Jackie Juno (Grand Bard of Exeter), guest speakers are Gill Wyatt (Director, Exeter Community Energy), Gabriel Wondrausch (MD, Sun Gift Solar) and Merlin Hyman (CE, Regen SW).

There will be an Open poetry slam finale where six selected poets have a three minute chance to win a £100 prize and surprise musicians plus a free book with every ticket.

Did you know? Renewable electricity now supplies one quarter of South West homes. Rapid growth but the region is still not on track to meet renewable energy targets.

A major report, published this July by independent renewable energy experts Regen SW, reveals that we now generate enough renewable electricity in the south west to power over one quarter of all homes.

Renewable electricity capacity in the south west has grown by 37 per cent in the past 12 months to nearly 1.2 GW – and the region now generates 8.3 per cent of its electricity from renewable sources. See click here for further information.

This Community Energy Fortnight event is sponsored by Stephens Scown Solicitors.
