Theatrical cholera epidemic grips Exeter!

Eccentric Exeter present Dr Shapter vs the Cholera Epidemic.

Take a dramatic historical theatre walk through Exeter's
own horrid history to a time when cholera infested the streets
and only one man could save the City from total contamination!

Back by popular demand, Dr Shapter vs the Cholera Epidemic starts and ends at the City Gate Pub, Lower North Street, Exeter on: Friday 8, Saturday 9, Sunday 10 November at 6.30pm and at 3pm on Saturday 9 November 2013.

The play, which debuted last year is set in 1832 when Exeter was seized by the grip of the dreaded Cholera. The courageous Dr Shapter blazed a trail through the city, his mission to locate the source of the infection, educate the people in how to deal with the epidemic and to bring an end to the suffering it was causing.

Eccentric Exeter’s theatre walk production is a funny and diseased promenade which takes the audience on a journey with the good Dr Shapter through Victorian Exeter taking in many colourful characters and atmospheric locations along the way. Expect live action, multi-media projections and a good dose of local history thrown in!

A must for both fans of theatre, history and the macabre, Dr Shapter v The Cholera Epidemic is fascinating for adults and is also suitable for older children brought up on ‘Horrible Histories’.

So get ready to wrap up warm and join your guide at the City Gate pub for a 6.30pm start on the Friday 8, Saturday 9, Sunday 10 November with a matinee performance starting at 3pm on Saturday 9 November. Tickets are £6 for adults and £3 for children.
