Buckfast Abbey will be hosting a Foragers Feast pop up kitchen with local foraging expert David Beazley.

The feast will take place on the evening of Saturday 23 July in the restaurant of the Buckfast Abbey Conference Centre looking across the lawn to the Abbey Church.

Throughout March to October Devon provides a feast for foragers with food such as clams, crabs, mussels, chive, rock samphire, blueberries, strawberries and raspberries.

Using locally foraged foods, David and the Abbey chef John Hughes will serve a delicious four course menu with a selection of wines to complement the meal.

David said: “I’m really looking forward to joining forces with Buckfast Abbey for the Foragers’ Feast. It’s a concept that’s really taken off in recent years and I’m excited to be hosting the pop-up kitchen in such a spectacular location.

Foraging is the latest trend in the foodie world, with many top-restaurants hiring professional foragers to supply them with the freshest ingredients on offer.

The magic of foraged food is in the taste, creativity, quality and authenticity that it provides to the menu.

Carin Hawkey, Conference Manager at Buckfast Abbey Conference Centre said: “It’s wonderful to have David joining us.

“The conference centre is well-known for its delicious food, so it’s great to be able to add a foraged food night to the list. Whilst we host many brilliant conferences, we are looking to expand our offering, so the pop-up kitchen is just the first of many events.”

The feast costs £25 per person excluding wine, and will take place at 7pm.
