Torquay’s Bistrot Pierre does Bastille

Tuesday 14 July will see Torquay's Bistrot Pierre celebrating La Prise de la Bastille, the French national day. 

In recognition of this historic date in the French calendar the bistrot staff will be dressing up in French inspired outfits and cooking up a vibrant party atmosphere - as well as its usual mouth-watering French dishes.

General Manager Beau Clarke says the evening promises to be one of the highlights of the summer: “La Fête de la Bastille is a national celebration in France.  It’s a great opportunity for us to celebrate French culture and passion for good food.”

On the night (14 July) Bistrot Pierre will be serving a special fixed menu (£17.95 for 2 courses between 5.30 & 7pm; £19.95 after 7pm; or 4 course meal £23.95) with a choice of dishes including Tarte à l’oignon; Saucisse de Toulouse with soft poached egg; Salade Niҫoise au Saumon; and Duck leg confit from the Périgord region, served with Lyonnaise potatoes, caramelised shallots, grilled French beans and blackberry jus.

Beau continues, “We really hope everyone will get into the spirit of things again this year.  Our staff will be suitably dressed for the occasion with berets, neck scarves, striped t-shirts and moustaches, but I’m looking forward to seeing how creative our customers can be.  We will be awarding a meal for two and a bottle of Cuvée 94 as a prize for the best dressed”

The privately owned restaurant group opened its first restaurant in Nottingham 21 years ago and currently has 13 bistrots across the country - from Ilkely to Plymouth, Cardiff to Sheffield.  It opened its latest addition to the family in Bath last month.
