New course to support Devon fitness surge

Bicton College has launched a new course starting in June to train those interested in the fitness industry to become gym instructors.

The course, which gives participants a world-wide recognised qualification by CYQ, will run over 12 Saturdays staring on 14 June 2014.

Weight issues in the UK are now at an all-time high with approximately 25% of adults currently classed as obese, however, gym memberships and new fitness facilities are also on the rise proving that there is a demand for people wanting to keep fit and develop new healthy lifestyle habits.

Programme Manager for Coaching and Sports Development at Bicton College says, “We are pleased to be able to offer the CYQ qualification at Bicton, especially across the weekends so it is accessible for those looking at a potential career change, parents returning to work and people wanting to train around an already busy lifestyle.

The fitness instructing course offers a mix of both theory and practical sessions, and no experience is needed. This course will provide students with the confidence and skills to work in a gym environment or progress to other options such as personal training and running exercise classes.”

What better way to develop your career, inspire those around you and promote Devon as a hub of activity and wellbeing. Please contact chris.frankland@bicton.ac.uk or call 01395 562328 for more information or to book.

The course costs £550 for 12 weeks, or can be fully funded for 19+ job seekers (JSA/ESA claimants).
