Hilton Worldwide opens first hotel in Exeter
Hilton Worldwide has announced the opening of its debut hotel in Exeter. Hampton by Hilton Exeter Airport becomes the fast growing value brand's 11th UK hotel and Hilton Worldwide's 12th airport hotel in the country.
Located less than a mile from Exeter International Airport and close to junction 29 of the M5 motorway, the 120-guestroom hotel offers convenient access for air travellers and those seeking to visit the nearby city centre. For those that enjoy the great outdoors, the Jurassic Coast, England's first world natural heritage site, is a short drive away while both the Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks are also close by.
Simon Vincent, area president, EMEA, Hilton Worldwide said: "Hilton Worldwide is the largest global operator of airport hotels by room numbers and through our portfolio of brands we constantly seek to redefine the airport hotel experience. Exeter Airport acts as an important gateway to the tourism hotspots of Devon and Cornwall, and has this year brought the number of destinations it serves up to 50 for the first time. With the foundations laid for strong passenger growth in the next few years, we're delighted to be establishing a presence here."
Hampton by Hilton Exeter Airport, which is operated by hotel management company Interstate Hotels & Resorts, includes all of the brand's signature features, with hot breakfast included in the room rate, a 24-hour snack area featuring light dishes and a full bar.
Business travellers will be able to enjoy internet access included with their stay and a 24-hour business centre facility on site. The hotel has also struck a partnership with Flybe Airlines, whose internationally renowned training academy is located next door, providing guests with access to 26 modern conference and meeting rooms.
Mark Nogal, regional head, focused service brand management, EMEA, said, "Hampton by Hilton prides itself on putting the needs of busy modern travellers first, making us an ideal choice for airport passengers. Hampton by Hilton Exeter Airport becomes what is already our third airport hotel in the UK, joining properties at Liverpool John Lennon Airport and London Luton Airport."
Nick Taplin from Interstate Hotels & Resorts said: "This is the second Hampton by Hilton we have opened in the UK and we're committed to rolling out the brand to other major European cities. In addition to Exeter, we currently have Hampton by Hilton hotels in Amsterdam and Birmingham, and we are developing a fourth in Sheffield. It is a very exciting brand that we are proud to have in our management portfolio."
The opening marks the latest in a series of investment projects taking place east of Exeter. Developments such as the opening of the new Flybe training academy and infrastructure work at Growth Point have seen the region enjoy a sustained period of economic growth. Employing 55 team members, Hampton by Hilton Exeter Airport will set a new standard in the quality of affordable accommodation available to visitors to the burgeoning area.
Hampton by Hilton also participates in Hilton HHonors, a hotel rewards programme that offers points and miles for the same stay and no blackout dates to redeem rewards.
