Staff and volunteers at Overbeck’s near Salcombe are to present a very special open evening on Friday 7 June to celebrate their first ever garden sculpture exhibition.

The sculptures chosen for the exhibition are as unique and spectacular as Overbeck’s sub-tropical garden which is perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea in one of Devon’s most exotic locations. The beautiful natural forms all around are the inspiration for the artworks, be they created in resin, ceramics or forged fabricated steel.

Entitled ‘An Uncommon Quest’, the exhibition is open from 11am to 5pm each day from 8 June to 30 August. The exhibiting artists came from a variety of backgrounds, ranging from farming to the software industry, before realising their passion for sculpture.

James Schenk, Visitor Experience Manager at Overbeck’s said: ‘Just as our visitors have to conquer the many steep, narrow twisting lanes that lead to Overbeck’s in order to discover the treasures that make up this outstanding garden, so our exhibitors have overcome many changes in their lives to inspire them to produce beautiful natural forms which have culminated in this unique exhibition.’

Why not mingle with the sculptors at the special preview evening on 7 June from 6pm to 9pm and enjoy drinks from red and white wines and canapés supplied by Aune Valley Meat? Each sculpture will be available for sale after the exhibition.

Tickets, which are £10 each, are available from Overbeck’s, near Salcombe; The Brownston Gallery, Modbury; Red & White Wines, Kingsbridge; Aune Valley Meat, Loddiswell; or at the gate.
