A quality business at the heart of the community
As with many successful businesses, Ashgrove Kitchens really grew as a result of personal recommendation. In 1987 Andy Davis had set up a small business in Crediton to supply kitchen units to other trades, such as kitchen designers and fitters. But local people got to hear about it and word of mouth led him to start producing designer kitchens for retail customers.
The kitchens units are individually made at their factory in Crediton by skilled craftsmen, many of whom have been with the business since the beginning. As the company grew they expanded into making other interior fittings, such as bedrooms, bathrooms and home studies. This, in turn, has led to the recent doubling in size of the factory. Their services range from initial consultation, a complete design service, bespoke manufacture, right through to installation. With commercial success has also come a commitment to supporting their local community. When I set up the Crediton Food Festival in 2009 Ashgrove Kitchens were keen to help out and, as well as financial support, provided one of their kitchens for the chefs demonstrations which were a highlight of the Festival. They continue to support the Food Festival, now coming up for its 5th year, as well as being a business partner to Crediton Arts Centre. More widely they also support the adoption charity Families for Children (there is still a link with food as Michelin starred local chef Michael Caines is a patron). To celebrate its 25 years in Crediton Ashgrove Kitchens are inviting local people for a day of family fun and festive festivities at their showroom & workshops in Crediton on November 17th, 11am to 4pm. I will be providing cookery demonstrations, and will be teaming up with Alistair Peebles of the Devon Wine School to look at food & wine pairings. There will be a chance to see their craftsmen at work and talk to designers. And you will get a chance to win £1,000 off Ashgrove products Children will have plenty to do, including a Santa's Grotto, craft activities and story telling, and the event will be opened at 11am by BBC Radio Devon's Judy Spiers More details can be found here - http://www.ashgrovekitchens.co.uk/latest-news/93-festival
