Safety tips to keep in mind while operating magnetic drills
Tools and other equipment can be dangerous if not operated properly. You are responsible for the safe operation of power tools such as magnetic drills irrespective of where you purchased your tools from, even if it’s from Rotabroach. The operator (you) must carefully read and follow any warnings, safety signs and instructions provided with or located on the equipment. Do not remove, defeat, deface or render inoperable any of the safety devices or warnings on such equipment. If any warnings have been removed, defeated or defaced, then the tool is rendered inoperable.
There are a lot of important safety guidelines to be kept in mind while operating a drill machine, here are some safety steps:
- Never use a magnetic drilling machine (magnetic drill press) in a combustible or explosive atmosphere.
- Users with impaired physical, mental, or motor skills must have direct supervision or instruction from a responsible party before they are allowed to use the magnetic drilling machine.
- Do not use this magnetic drilling machine if you have a heart condition or any type of implant.
- The magnetic drilling equipment is not for use by children.
- Before using, make sure there are no obvious symptoms of damage to the magnetic drilling equipment. Don't use a piece of faulty magnetic drilling equipment.
- Before beginning any work, make sure the magnetic drilling machine's safety chain is in good working order and all switches are in the on position.
- Only a licensed electrician is allowed to make changes to the connecting cable.
- Only authorized specialist repair shops or factory-authorized customer service may make adjustments or repairs to the magnetic drilling equipment.
- Repairs made by someone without the proper training could put the user in serious danger.
- Magnetic drilling machine repairs performed by anybody other than a manufacturer-authorised service center void warranty.
- If a part breaks, it must be replaced with the same or an identical one from the manufacturer. These are the only components that can provide the necessary safety levels.
- A magnetic drilling machine should never be used without direct supervision.
- Keep youngsters away from the magnetic drilling machine and keep it in a dry, cool place.
- Avoid leaving the magnetic drilling machine in the rain or snow.
- Take care that your workspace has adequate lighting (more than 300 Lux).
- Magnetic drill presses with insufficient motor power should not be used for demanding tasks.
- The magnetic drilling machine should be maintained in a sanitary state.
- Ensure the tool is properly cooled and lubricated before using.
Other major safety precautions to keep in mind
Involvement with live wires or components should be avoided at all costs when using a magnetic drill machine. Even minor mistake involving power tools and electricity could be deadly, so be cautious.
Please follow these guidelines to ensure your safety around electrical current:
- Don't take the cover off the magnetic drill! (magnetic drill press). Possible electric shock hazard from making contact with live wires.
- The magnetic drilling machine and its power cord should never be submerged in any liquid.
- To avoid electrical shock, only use 1.5 mm2 cable cross-section extension cables or cable drums.
- Be sure to only utilize extension cords that have been specifically approved for your building.
- Maintain a regular inspection schedule for the extension cord and immediately swap out any damaged sections.
- To prevent electric shock in the event of a malfunction, keep your distance from grounded items (such as pipes, radiators, and steel girders).
- An RCD (residual circuit device) is required if the magnetic drilling equipment is operated outside or in damp conditions.
