Cofton Country Holidays raises over £6,000 for local charities

Cofton Country Holidays, located near Starcross, has this week handed over its latest charity cheque of the year bringing the total amount raised by staff, visiting guests and through Cofton’s charitable sponsorships to well over £6,000.

Mike Elsey of Devon Wildlife Trust and Nora, the charity’s wild beaver population fundraising mascot, accepted the latest cheque for £260.80 from Cofton Country Holidays’ Directors Mellony Kirby and Helen Scott.

Commenting on the donation Mike said: “Cofton is a huge supporter of the Trust, contributing £2,750.80 to Devon Wildlife Trust over the past twelve months alone.  Today’s donation follows on from Cofton Country Holidays’ annual corporate supporters fees, its donations towards the cost of pond dipping days run by the charity and its sponsorship of Nora, our Beaver Mascot, who’s attending shows and events to raise the profile of our work to protect wild beavers on the River Otter. 

“Through Cofton’s support we have been able to raise the profile of the charity locally and nationally with pieces in the press, on radio and TV, encouraging wider donations from individuals and organisations across the country.”

Mellony Kirby, Director at Cofton Country Holidays, commented: “Our support for the Devon Wildlife trust is part of Cofton’s ongoing commitment to conservation and the local environment. 

“Each year we work with the Trust and use their advice to create a diverse range of natural environments for a growing range of wildlife species.  With over 80 acres of parkland and woodland to explore and dozens of nature trails to chose from, we find their advice invaluable.  Giving back to the charity through our sponsorships and today’s donation is part of our long standing commitment to work together and support each other.”

Cofton Country Holidays supports four charities.  Earlier this year it donated over £2,000 to the Children’s Hospice South West, £476.60 to the Helen Foundation and £806.60 to Dawlish Community Transport.  Combined with its sponsorships and donations to Devon Wildlife Trust, this brings Cofton’s total charitable donations over the past twelve months to in excess of £6,000.
