Go Commando for two great causes
The Royal Marines Commando Challenge takes place on Saturday 8 October with the 4k and 10k, and Sunday 10 October with more 10ks and the 17k.
The endurance course is 4k in length, with additional runs for the 10k and 17k. This year there are also new routes.
So if you, your friends, club, pub, or work colleagues (for example) are looking for a new challenge, then this is just the event for you! Even better, you get to support two fantastic good causes; The Royal Marines Charity and Devon Air Ambulance.
This unique event gives you the opportunity to test your grit and determination across the Royal Marines’ own training endurance course on Woodbury Common near Exmouth. In fact unless you are a Royal Marine or take part in this event, you won’t get the chance to do it!
Heléna Holt, CEO of Devon Air Ambulance said “This event has been running for 25 years, but with the independent organiser deciding to retire, the charities decided to buy the event. The ethos of the 4k and 10k distance is very much ‘work as a team’ – stay together and encourage your fellow team members to do the best they can. The 17k can be entered as an individual.”
Jonathan Ball, CEO of The Royal Marines Charity added “Both charities very much recognise and pay tribute to the support received from the Royal Marines and community as a whole through this unique event. We believe The Royal Marines Commando Challenge is pretty special because not only is it owned and organised by our charities, but also is the only chance the wider community will ever get to experience the Royal Marines Endurance Course. We’re proud of our partnership and all funds raised will make a huge difference to the communities we serve.”
