Spending time in the lounge takes the top spot for Exeter homeowners, as they reveal what goes on behind closed doors.

A survey, conducted by One Poll on behalf of David Wilson Homes, which has a number of new developments in Exeter, has given an insight into the living habits of people across the region and which rooms they use most in their homes.

When asked which room they spend the most time in when at home, a whopping 61% of all homeowners said the lounge.

For 18% it was the kitchen, 8% a home office/study, 6% the bedroom, and 4% the garden. The pattern of usage remains similar across all age ranges.

“The research shows that the lounge is by far the most used area of the home, with every age group - from 18 year olds to the over 55s - agreeing that they spend the most time here,’’ said David Wilson Homes sales director Lee Monk.

“The research highlights just how important it is to ensure all homes come with a comfortable living room area and shows just how important the living room is to homeowners and that it is such an integral part of house design.’’

Lee said the research reinforced the importance of creating a comfortable and liveable space and supports the David Wilson Homes commitment to build homes with light and airy lounges and open plan living areas for families and friends to gather.
