Trill Farm, the 300 acre organic farm and education centre near Axminster, will be participating in this national event - Open Farm Sunday - for the first time in 2015, on Sunday 7th June between 11am - 4pm.

Each year since 2006, Open Farm Sunday has seen hundreds of UK farms open up their gates to the public on the same day across the country. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the British public to get to understand the importance of farming and its connection to food production, something that is at the heart of The Trill Trust, the educational charity based at Trill.

People can visit Trill Farm for free during Open Farm Sunday and can participate in a variety of activities, meeting the animals, munching their way through their market garden and learning about the wildlife that thrives on the Farm and how it’s looked after. After a busy time spent exploring there will be a chance to relax and buy delicious farm foods and teas from the Old Dairy Kitchen or purchase handmade organic toiletries, preserves and textiles from the farm shop.

There will also be a chance to explore and learn about Trill’s education programme, run by The Trill Trust.

Education Director of the Trill Trust, Jolyon Chesworth comments: "We are delighted to be participating in Open Farm Sunday this year. The Trust aims to provide opportunities for experiential learning about food production, ecology, sustainability and health and Open Farm Sunday is fantastic opportunity to invite the local community on to the farm to showcase the work that we do.

“Most importantly, by showing children where their food comes from in a fun and engaging way, we are creating that important connection between farming, the natural environment and ourselves. If we can help people to understand the importance of seasonality, biodiversity and conservation, then we will encourage the next generation to become responsible custodians of our land.”
