The University of Exeter has been named the best university in the UK for international student satisfaction.

The StudyPortals International Student Satisfaction Awards 2014 are based on 16,427 comments made by 6,923 international students in Europe. These reviews provide rare insights into universities’ performance from an international student perspective.

The universities included in the award had to have received more than 20 reviews during the last academic year. Institutions were given an Outstanding Student Satisfaction Award if their average rating was 9.5 or higher out of 10. The Excellent Student Satisfaction Award was received by the universities that had average rating of 9.0 or higher.

Five universities in the United Kingdom were awarded a Certificate of Outstanding International Student Satisfaction, with the University of Exeter awarded Gold.

Dr Shaun Curtis, Director of International Exeter said: “We are delighted to have come first in the UK, achieving a score of more than 9.5 out of 10. We work very hard to make sure all our students have a fantastic experience during their time at Exeter, and it is especially pleasing to note that this also applies to our international students.”

Compared to the previous year, overall student satisfaction has improved in the UK. Britain’s average has increased from 8.8 in the last academic year to 9.0 this year. This means that UK universities rank 2nd place in international students’ satisfaction amongst the most popular study destinations in Europe.
