Great South West unveils world-class investment opportunities
Region launches flagship Investment Brochure at UKREiiF, showcasing nine nationally strategic, globally significant projects
The Great South West Partnership has launched its new Investment Brochure at UKREiiF, the UK's largest investment and development convention with over 10,000 delegates attending. The brochure was unveiled at a special lunch reception hosted by Karl Tucker, Great South West Chair, at the Great South West Pavilion, and attended by senior business figures, government officials and national and international investors.
The 'Great South West: Investment Brochure 2024’ is part of the Partnership’s ongoing strategic drive to champion the region nationally and internationally, and promote its outstanding investment potential. The brochure includes significant data and insights into the region’s economy and growth, businesses and innovations. It also sets out nine strategic national investment opportunities that demonstrate the Great South West's unique strengths in sectors critical to the success of the UK’s economy:
Plymouth & South Devon Freeport:- A national hub for trade and investment in marine, engineering and net zero technologies poised to transform the Great South West’s economic landscape.
Appledore Clean Maritime Innovation: Game-changing investment opportunities in new advanced manufacturing and innovation technologies.
Celtic Sea Floating Offshore Wind: One of the world’s three leading locations for floating offshore wind - the next untapped frontier in offshore energy generation.
Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone: A flagship gateway location at the forefront of environmental science and the net zero transition, anchored by world leading research and innovation at the University of Exeter
Dorset Innovation Park: Home to a pioneering advanced engineering cluster and centre of excellence for the South West and the UK’s defence capability
Spaceport Cornwall: As the UK’s first spaceport, Spaceport Cornwall is at the vanguard of the region’s role as a leading player in the UK space industry.
Goonhilly Earth Station: A renowned global hub for space communications and satellite operations, with nationally critical assets and technologies which are shaping the future of space exploration
Gravity Smart Campus: The UK’s first giga-scale commercial smart campus is catalysing the journey towards net zero by providing a blueprint for the UK to deliver clean and inclusive growth.
Hinkley Point Legacy and Wider Site: EDF Energy is building two nuclear reactors, the first in the UK for over 20 years, which are set to provide low-carbon electricity for 6 million homes (7% of the UK’s energy needs) over the next 60 years, creating major investment opportunities for legacy land and assets across the vast site.
