Adoption centre fundraiser

Exeter Axhayes adoption centre is a local cat re-homing centre run by Cats Protection the UK's leading cat welfare charity.

The centre is holding a quiz night at Exeter Saracens RFC on 3rd July 2015 to help raise funds for the centre. The centre looks after local homeless cats until they are found a new home. Their policy is never to put a healthy cat asleep therefore sometimes a cat can be looked after for quite some time.

An example of the type of work they do is highlighted by Panjo. She came to them originally as a stray, and was in a bad state - she has a terrible skin condition which they are treating with medication and TLC. Panjo eventually found a home, but it was a busy household and was too stressful for her, so she has come back to Axhayes. They are desperate to find Panjo a home as soon as possible, not just because it is her second time at the centre, but because a pen situation is not good for her. She is looking for a quiet home where she will be the only animal, and where there are no young children, ideally with someone who works from home, or who is around a lot of the time because she loves company. So far Panjo's treatment has cost around £900 so fundraising for the centre is an important part to ensure that she and others like her are looked after and new homes found for them.

Details of the quiz night can be found online at www.axhayes.cats.org.uk or by emailing friendsofaxhayes@gmail.com

A spokesperson for the friends of Axhayes group, who organises events and raises funds for the group said: " sadly we are unable to hold our annual easter eggstravagnza and our open days due to matters out of our control. Therefore we are heavily reliant on other events being organised this year, one being this quiz night. It will be a fun evening and is being held at the Saracens RFC clubhouse."

The spokesperson also went on to say, " We are looking for people to donate raffle prizes for this event as well as other events being organised this year and if anyone would like to help then please get in touch".

The centre is open to the public every day except Tuesdays from 11am until 3pm and they can be contacted by calling 01395 232 377
